ASOIAF: Elocup Tournament Battles 3. & 4.

 More Lannisters - Winds of Winter

After two rounds I had a minor loss and a crushing victory under my belt and needed to win this battle to seriously compete for victory in this tournament. Facing Lannisters again I decided to go again with my MOD -list.

Deployment 

I deployed my Dragons in the middle, in order NOT to let me opponent where they would be going AND obviously to have all options open to me. Daenarys in her Black Guards bunker deployed in my extreme left to move and claim an objective to score 2 VP each round. She faced Mountain that Rides and Lannister Readcoats. Jaqen with Stormcrow Mercenaries deployed in the other flank - to stay as far as possible from Redcoats. They would claim an objective, if it would be safe enough...

While Lannisters advanced towards the middle of the battle field, I moved Daenarys towards the left flank objective and then her children, one by one to her and forward to challenge Mountain and Red Cloaks, whom I wanted out of the game as soon as possible. Gregor would also yield as easy VP if he dared to venture too close to my dragons...

Stormcrows tip toed forward, making sure to be outside of Tywin's tricks...

Positions in the end of R1

Stormcrow archers took some pot shots at Rhaegal, but nothing dramatic was caused. Mountain actually stepped back to stay away from the dragons - very smart!

Round 2.

I had Swift Reposition TC in my hand and managed a charge Rhaegal on the SC Archers, they dutifully failed their morale too. As expected.

Drogon failed it's charge to catch Mountain, but Rhaegal retreated with a TC after Archers attacked it and cunningly I positioned her so, that Red Cloaks couldn't charge neither of my dragons. 

Mountain then charged Drogon, but as he was weakened I was able to block his crits and then use Walder to attack with Drogon and destroy the Mountain with D3+2 wounds.

 I must also have scored a VP from Mission Cards, too as in the end of R2 was like this:

Round 3.

Rhaegal had taken Poor Fellows to her flank and had to retreat wounded, before being able to finish of Stormcrow Archers. Luckily I had the means to heal her. In the meanwhile Drogon was fighting Red Cloaks...

Unfortunately Red Cloaks won this fight... again, if dragons would have made D3+3 wounds, Drogon would have destroyed them.

As I had played the Secret Mission to give 2 VP from having an unengaged unit in the enemy deployment zone, Viseorion just flew in, instead of charging and finishing off SC Archers... their time would come! 

As Tywin was approaching my Stormcrows I saw an opening with Rhaegal too sweet to ignore and managed a charge to Tywin and his Bolton Blackguards (that look very much like Lannister Guardsmen). Rhaegal scorched and  scared off 8 soldiers! 

As round 3 ended I had a good feeling about my 6-3 lead...

Round 4.

I had destroyed 3 enemy units (Mountain, Read Cloaks and SC Archers)and would soon destroy Tywin... ...and only lost Drogon myself. I was feeling very confident and moved forward to engage

with Daenarys and her Blackguard. They had taken some panic damage from Lannister tricks, but I had preferred healing my dragons with Walder Frey's activation.... surely they could handle Poor Fellows!

Then a disaster struck! More panic damage and Dany was left with only 3 models standing! And then Poor Fellows attacked using a faith token to gain precision and rerolls. Of course Pasi managed three sixes and the sturdy 3+ armor save meant nothing! 

And of course Pasi had played the Secret Mission to gain 2 VP from killing enemy commander. This meant that he scored a whopping 5 VP from this kill!  and was now leading and would win the game, if I couldn't kill his commander, which would grant me 3+1 VP, Tywin was squeezed between a dragon and Stormcrow Mercs, so this should be no problem, right?

Just to make it sure I charged Rhaegal into Tywin's arse too... Pasi had played Fealty to the Crown and healed them up, but now I had him hanging on just two remaining models standing! And I had still Walder to play!

But of course he had Intrigue and Subterfuge and all I could do to make Tywin 

take a panic test, instead of attacking him with a dragon! Damn it!

And so just Tywin was left standing!

And Lannisters won!

A bitter loss!

And More Lannisters - Battle 4. Fire & Blood

I had played all three games so far with MOD and lost 2 of them. It was certainly 

the time to let Barristan give it a go!

So it was my battle line against Lannister battle line with double Red Cloaks in Fire and Blood

On round 2.my Hrakkars arrived and managed a charge to Mikko's Hedge Knights

And my double Pikemen phalanx pushed forward with their 2+ morale

And for once Targaryen TC Unstoppable Advance proved it's worth as I was able o safely charge through stakes to Mikko's SC Arhers

Pikemen take their time in killing SC Archers!

In the end of 4th round Mikko threw in the towel as I was leading 6-0

and was about to wipe out most of his units

Crushing victory to Targaryens!

In the end I finished 4th based on pure games, but as our tournament awarded 1 point for having a fully painted army, I rose to claim the third place!

I guess I had the only fully painted army as I even got this cool t-shirt for my troubles
