ASOIAF: Custom Tactics Boards

 Tactic's Board as a Diorama

In Song we mainly use 2D terrain (check my 3D terrain here) so to fill the "visuality gap" of the game, I've modelled several "Diorama Tactics Board". Latest one is based on 3D printed Dragonstone board used as the base. Read on to learn how these were made!

The First: Throne Room in King's Landing

This started it all. Found a Lego-copy set with Joffrey sitting on the Iron Throne and got the idea to
model it to a back set of a TB. It's from McFarlane Toys and one can find it with broad variety in price, for example here. I changed the set a bit and added TB with stone floor elements. Simple. Joffrey is off somewhere shooting innocent people with his crossbow. I also made a Trophy of the King's Guard Model, that game with the set.

The Second: Small Council Champer

As I got a lot of these small "battlefield / dungeon terrain" bits from Archon Studio's Dungeons & Lasers KS I got the inspiration to make this one with 3D elements indication each zone. And there's the table for the small council too.

The Third: Water Gardens

Since Martells were released, they have been my main faction. Naturally I wanted a dedicated TB for them as well - with the added Tactics zone included. See how it was made here.

The Fourth: Dragonstone

The latest addition to my "collection" was inspired by two things: I activated in playing Baratheons in our map based campaign and by this video from Roll'em if got them:

A mate from our club, Sami, was kind enough to print it for me and then
I set to work...

I sawed the pillars holding the map shorter, as NCU's would have hardly reached the top
of the map otherwise (it's too tall by default).
I glued the set on a broader base and added stone floors by Renedra and stone walls by Archon Studio
Once again I roamed my bits box for all those juicy detail elements and tried out different set ups.

Banners on the wall are attached with magnets, so that I can swap them for Targaryen
banners - Dragonstone is their original seat of power, after all!

Dragonstone indeed...

What's next?

So with the latest addition I have Baratheons and Targaryens covered (need to make the Targaryen Banners still). I'm also playing with Starks ATM, so maybe next is Winterfell... or more generic north to cater for Starks, Boltons and Night's Watch. Swapping magnetized banners can make all the difference needed.
