Unboxing FireForge Games' Forgotten World Kickstarter

FANTASY PLASTIC

It's always a celebration, when a Kickstarter pledge is delivered to you. This was a Kickstarter I had really anticipated since a great flame for Game of Thrones or the Song of Ice and Fire is burning inside me since last fall, when I listened all the books and (re)watched all the seasons of GoT.

Read on to find out about contents and my evaluation of these new plastics.

Finnish war 1808-09 -project REBOOTED!

Visiting Little Wars in Stockholm this weekend really got me and my friends fired up on both playing the excellent Pikemans Lament (or Eagle Rampant, see Wargames Illustrated April 2016 issue) AND on getting the armies for it, that is Russians and Fins & Swedes.

I had had a slowly growing Russian army for the Napoleonic  era in my cupboard for a few years and had so far painted only few of them for Retreat from Moscow 1812 games. So off I went to rummage my dash and the pile of lead and plastic came up quite impressive...

Tonite I then went on to kitbash different Napoleonic miniatures to create plastic troopers for 1808 Finns... see the pics on how it turned out!

Getting started with X-wing... in an affordable way?

After hearing several recommendations from my friends and testing the game of my friend with kids and a friend, I decided to buy the starting kit. Since expansions are quite pricey, I set out to find a bit more affordable options...

GNW: Camping out

As our Great Northern War Campaign progresses more troops and related terrain is needed. Our participants are actively painting more troops for the coming battle of Narva, so I got the inspiration to make more terrain for our scenarios. This time it's a camp for our miniature soldiers to take some rest in.

Read more to find out how this camp came to be.

Unboxing Conquest Games' Medieval Archers

Archers for Vikings, Anglo-Saxons, Crusaders...

Visited London last weekend with my daughter and besides doing everything Harry Potter -related I managed to sneak into good ol' Orcs Nest store and found what I was looking for new Medieval Archers from Conquest Games.

After getting back home I couldn't resist for long and had to try and put few of them together and naturally do some kitbashing as well...

I got back to this project, since the big Mare Nostrum campaign is over and there nothing "dead lined" to paint. I also got in touch with Nick from Ebor Miniatures and am painting some minis to take pictures for him.

Few pictures on my progress:

KITBASH! Building Thorakitai for Successors

Thorakitai shall rule the battlefields of Mare Nostrum!

I wanted to build some more Thorakitai for my Alexander's Successors army for our Mare Nostrum Hail Caesar Campaign. I would have build them from Victrix very nice Carthagenians, but they weren't available in our local games store :-(, hence I bought a package WLG's Caesar's Legions and started kitbashin' them with bits from different hellenistic sets. Read on!
