We wargamers see the world in a different way, don't we?
This is what I did this Summer.
Sitting in my castle in the edge of Peak District, England
My Wargaming Summer was full of interesting places and great events and people.
It all actually started already in May with first ever Nordic Grand Tournament for Song in Västeros, Sweden. I did good and finished 5th.
Summer vacation in the Great Britain
This Summer our vacation included a two week trip to UK, which of course
is more or less the home of wargaming and a country full of interesting history.
Oxford
Our first stop was Oxford, the famous university city, where my good friend had invited us to attend his wedding!
Oxford is a beautiful city, or actually an open-air museum! City host a great number or Colleges, each with it's own beautiful campuses, buildings and halls. We were fortunate to visit Oxford, while the Colleges were open for potential new students and my 19 and 17 year old kids passed well for this category...
William Herbert,
Earl of Pembroke
Almost Sharpe
Hall of Jesus College
Arabian Lawrence, a former student of Jesus College
Our family in the wedding celebration, Magdalene College
Living the dream
Our next stop was Caverswell castle, where we stayed with friends after the wedding, pretty awesome!
Our bed
Part of Bayeux Tapestry (not original I think), which tells about
the Battle of Hastings 1066 AD
We were surprised, that one could actually rent this castle!
Then moved to Scotland and landed in historical Stirling
Where a located a local game shop and venue. Unfortunately I was not able to
setup a game there.
Nice shopping from the local Tesco
Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle
We didn't see the Nessie, though
Then we continued to Isle of Skye and back to Stirling again
Old man of Stor (not me)
William Wallace memorial
Site of Battle of Stirling
